Party Protocol?

Here goes: the easiest, though verbose, party booking procedure in the world…

There is no fee to reserve a room for your party. However, reservations must be guaranteed with a credit card, which will be charged $100 only in the event of a cancellation. The cost of any damage to the bar during the party will be charged to the credit card number used for the reservation.

babyATLAS (downstairs) is available for parties from 20 to 50 ppl, can be held private until 11 PM on Friday and Saturday, and anytime Mon - Thurs. This room has it’s own bar and sound system separate from Matilda, and you are welcome to bring your iPod (any style) to listen to during your party. That’s during the party, not after it ends at 11. Otherwise, we have over 12,000 songs in our library to keep you entertained.

The Back Bar is available for parties up to 80 ppl. Two smaller parties may share this space as well, but as cash bar only.

As far as bar packages go, they can be amended to whatever you want, depending on what you want include & spend. This is a good place to start:

babyATLAS: $25 per person = access to 3 draft beers, domestic bottled beer, 18 wines by the glass, and generic mixed drinks. $35 includes all that we have, excluding shots and martinis

The Back Bar: $30 per person = access to 12 draft beers, domestic bottled beer, 18 wines by the glass, and generic mixed drinks. $40 includes all that we have, excluding shots and martinis. You also have a personal server in this area. A minimum of 60 ppl must attend in order to receive this special, and the drink package must end by 11 PM. If you are interested in DJ services, we have a list of approved sources, just ask! Slide shows, sporting events, and home movies may be shown via our LCD projector on a 6’ x 8’ screen.

Cash bar parties (pay-as-you-go) are always welcome, and there is no minimum required to spend on the bar. Party packages must be universal, meaning everyone in the room adheres the same drink package.

Other bar options are available as well. Such as you open a tab, with or without limitations, and tell us when to end it. Or perhaps you’d like to buy everyone’s first drink. Or something else? Just call.

General (but important) Info: gratuity is not included, and is encouraged in exchange for good service, but is never a prerequisite for it. Wristband parties are subject to one drink per customer, so don’t rush the bar as the party ends to get six Coors Light’s (ahem, Kyle). These will get flat and warm while we escort you out.

Interested in renting the whole bar for one night? That costs $10,000 for a maximum of 200 for a 5 hour top-shelf bar, including martinis & excluding shots.

Private wine tastings can also be arranged for babyATLAS or The Back Bar, Sunday – Thursday. A minimum of 20 persons is required.

A minimum age requirement of 23 will be enforced at the door. No bachelor or bachelorette parties please.

If you or your guests are disruptive, belligerent, or generally suck, you may be put on an X list and banned from future party reservations, not to mention bring upon the wrath of the great beer god Xolufus.

Contact Kevin @ 773-883-4400 or kevin@matilda-babyatlas.com for reservations.

Attention Fundraisers…

Following are two options for hosting a fundraising party here at Matilda.

Wristband option (all you can drink for 3 hours).

What we do is charge $30 per person to include draft beer (imported, microbrew, and domestic), wine (one white, one red, one rose, and one sparkling), and generic well drinks. Your direct return is $7.50 per person, collected either by you or one of our doorpersons, your choice. The remaining $2.50 per person goes to the waitstaff and bartenders that work the party. Without including this amount, I have been personally making up for their lack of tips, which seems silly since I am already discounting what I usually charge per person for the fundraising efforts of each party.

Cash Bar Option ($5 wine, $4 draft beer)

The other option, which has worked very well, is to charge each attendee a $10 donation (or more if you choose) to gain entry to your party room. In exchange for the donation, all of which is returned to you, your guests are eligible for a drink special set up specifically for your party. One of the more popular drink specials has been $5 glasses of wine (to include one white, one red, one rose, and one sparkling) and $4 draft beer (11 to choose from, both imported and domestic). A food buffet may also be incorporated into the donation price if you wish.

All drink specials must end by 11 PM.

We did this last month for the ALS Foundation (benefiting those with Lou Gherigs disease) and they raised over $1400.

I believe the popularity of this second option is due to the fact that certain persons do not have to fork over a $30 fee if they only plan on having one or two drinks. Your group still gets $10 per person, and your guests have the option of drinking a lot or a little while paying a discounted rate for each item.
